“Why don’t you write more often, Keith? I’ve read some of your stuff and it’s pretty good”
“I just don’t have a ton of time, so I really only write if something inspires me and I have the time to think about it and put a little actual work into it.”
“Well unless you’re putting out something a little more regularly you will never build a following to read your inspired posts.”
“I understand that, but I just don’t have the motivation to really put in the kind of work necessary to get something like that going. Work, family, and all the other extra-curriculars I have going on, it just hasn’t been a priority. I’ve thought about it though.”
“Yeah I think you could easily get a bigger audience with a more regular content stream. You would also need a new website.”
“Yeah that is something I definitely do not have time to mess with. Getting that website up and running took a crazy amount of time and that’s not even a great site.”
“You know I build websites for a living right?”
“Yeah but I’m not going to bother you or pay you money just to satisfy my need to explore some intellectual curiosities on an infrequent basis.”
“Well you need a new website. So if you’re willing to write, I’ll build the site for you. When it does start making money, we’ll just split it 50/50.”
“Fine. Deal.”
“First you need a cool logo…”
And that’s how it started. Talking with a friend over beers at a bar in Rockford, Illinois.
And now here we are, with a cool new website and, hopefully, some interesting things to say. It will contain a lot about investing, financial markets, and economics; a little about geo-politics and social issues; and a steady stream of book reviews and other personal development topics. This is the home of, and the working development of the Kraken philosophy. There will be additional articles dedicated to explaining what I mean by that at later dates, but in short, the Kraken philosophy involves taking lessons from many different schools of thought and disciplines to help make us better leaders of this brave new world.
So stay tuned and let me know what you want to hear about. I’m always happy to answer questions or participate in fun debates, but my main objective is to impart useful knowledge and inspire others to do the same.
